Haan Coffee is turning off the Wi-Fi on Saturdays

Starting this Saturday, Haan Coffee (Instagram) on Colonial Drive is launching “Unplugged Saturdays,” which means no Wi-Fi, no laptops, and no working from the cafe, unless it’s analog. The Korean-American coffee shop, which opened in early 2023 and quickly became a Mills 50 staple (Joe Jonas stopped by there last week), is asking guests to leave the work at home for at least one day a week in favor of something more old-fashioned: just being somewhere with other people.

The announcement landed to widespread praise on social media, with commenters thanking the shop for making the call. It’s a trial period for now, and the cafe is asking guests to respect the policy while they see how it goes.

Coffee shops across the country have been restricting or eliminating Wi-Fi to push back against remote workers who monopolize tables for hours. Some cafes in other parts of the country have started to impose a two-hour cap on their wifi during peak service times in order to free up tables. That being said, Haan says they’re doing this as more as a social experiment. Check out the announcement below.

Haan Coffee is located at 1235 E. Colonial Drive [GMap].
