11/7: The final tally of jobs lost at the factory sits closer to 500.

Frito-Lay announced it will close its manufacturing and warehouse facility near Silver Star Road and John Young Parkway in Orlando. As first reported by News 6, the company stated that the decision was made for business and operational reasons as part of a broader effort to streamline production.

Frito-Lay did not say how many employees will be affected but said it will provide workers with pay, benefits, and job placement assistance during the transition. According to AllBiz.com, the plant employs roughly 364 people. The building was sold for an estimated $11 million this summer.

The company described the decision as difficult and stated that the Orlando site has been an integral part of its operations for many years.

The Orlando plant has been a longtime employer in the area, and its closure will mark the end of a decades-long presence for Frito-Lay in Central Florida. It was founded in 1989.
