Matt Damon is Odysseus in THE ODYSSEY, written, produced, and directed by Christopher Nolan.
Enzian Theater (Website) in Maitland will screen Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in 70mm starting July 17, marking the first 70mm presentation in the theater’s history.
The screening is the payoff of a $150,000 capital campaign Enzian launched last year to install a reel-to-reel projection system capable of showing 35mm and 70mm films. The theater has also recently installed a new screen and an upgraded 7.1 sound system (which we recently enjoyed for a screening of The Warriors, albeit on VHS).
The Odyssey brings Homer’s foundational epic to the big screen, starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. Nolan shoots in 70mm as his preferred format, and the film opens nationwide on July 17.
“Coming off our incredibly successful 35mm run of Oppenheimer, which sold out the entire first week, we are beyond thrilled to be able to elevate the audience’s experience at Enzian by screening Nolan’s newest film in his preferred format of 70mm,” said Programming Manager Tim Anderson.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 4 at noon at enzian.org.
