Blue Spring State Park (Website) will host its next Park After Dark event on Saturday, December 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., offering visitors an opportunity to experience the springs and surrounding trails after sunset.
The program, run by the Friends of Blue Spring State Park (Website), invites guests to explore the park during evening hours when wildlife activity shifts. Attendees can take part in family-friendly activities before dusk, then join a guided walk along the boardwalk once night falls. Volunteer naturalists will be stationed throughout the route to help identify sounds, wildlife, and ecological features that are easy to miss during the day.
The event is designed to be slow-paced and reflective, encouraging visitors to appreciate the park’s natural environment without the crowds typical of daylight hours. Tickets are $3 per person, and participants are encouraged to bring flashlights, water, and appropriate footwear.
