The Altamonte Springs location of Santiago’s Bodega (Website) will launch a new art show on Tuesday, September 9, at 6 p.m. in their Robert Henry Thompson Gallery. Side Show at Santiago’s will feature art by German Lemus, Etch, A. Sarkisian, Mildten, Ether, Dawbry, and Halsi.
The gallery is named in honor of Robert Henry Thompson, who died in 2022. In addition to being an artist, Thompson served as Santiago’s Bodega’s Creative Director for the restaurant’s locations in Ivanhoe Village, Key West, and the Altamonte Springs location, and gave them their distinct look. “Under Robert’s leadership,” says the restaurant’s website. “The tables and bar have been built using reclaimed wood, the stained-glass doors have been uniquely pieced together, and the floors have been hand-laid.”
Thompson’s surrealist artwork adorns the walls in the restaurants, and he painted the mural of wilted roses on the side of the Ivanhoe Village location.
Tuesday’s event will include sounds by DJ Reebok and abstract hip-hop artist Eighth Letter, and attendees will enjoy wine, champagne, and hors d’oeuvres. Santiago’s Bodega is located at 1185 Spring Centre S. Boulevard [GMap] in Altamonte Springs.
