BUT, WILL JAXSON DE VILLE COMPETE IN THE NEXT MASCOT GAMES?
It’s official. NFL owners unanimously approved Orlando’s Camping World Stadium as the temporary home for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2027 season. The vote took place Tuesday at the league’s 2026 Annual Meeting in Phoenix.
The Jaguars will play their entire 2027 home schedule at Camping World Stadium while EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville undergoes a $1.4 billion renovation, scheduled to reopen in 2028.
Florida Citrus Sports, which manages Camping World Stadium, brokered the lease with the Jaguars. FCS CEO Steve Hogan called it a major milestone for the city. “Hosting NFL regular-season football is a major milestone for our city,” Hogan said, adding that Orange County and the City of Orlando have invested significantly in the stadium campus and that the 2027 season will help elevate Orlando’s standing as a host for major sporting events.
Orange County committed up to $11 million in tourist tax dollars to Florida Citrus Sports to land the deal. $10 million for a minimum of eight home games, with an additional $500,000 per playoff game, capped at $2 million. The money comes from Orange County’s Tourist Development Tax fund.
Jaguars owner Shad Khan praised the arrangement in a prepared statement issued after this evening’s big announcement at City Hall, saying Orlando and Camping World Stadium represented the best possible scenario for the team’s temporary displacement. He specifically thanked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their support during the approval process, as well as the Florida Citrus Sports team for making the deal happen.
Camping World Stadium is currently undergoing its own $400 million renovation, which is expected to be completed in time for the 2027 season (City officials promised that it would be finished in time at a February press conference/groundbreaking). The stadium’s capacity will expand to approximately 65,000 for NFL games.
For Orlando, it marks the first time the city will host NFL regular-season games.
