Taco Kat (Website), the Sonoran-style taqueria and bar concept in downtown Orlando, has been sold to new owners, according to a recent social media post.
New owner Jack Daryanani, who moved to Orlando about four years ago from Pennsylvania, said he was looking for a local business to invest in and ultimately purchased Taco Kat from TMG, which still retains ownership of the building. The venue operates as a two-part concept: a Sonoran-style taqueria on one side and a bar and club space on the other, separated by a door shaped like a pop machine.
Daryanani said the immediate focus is on expanding programming while keeping what already works. The club side currently operates primarily on Fridays and Saturdays, with House music on Fridays and Latin night on Saturdays. The plan is to add Sunday day parties in the coming months as the team tests earlier, more consistent weekly programming based on customer feedback.
On the food side, Taco Kat has brought back a three-for-$10 taco special on Sundays and is running $2 tacos on Tuesdays (specifically the “Basico”), effective February 10. He also said bar drink prices have been reduced by about 25% to make the concept more approachable for everyday customers.
Operationally, Daryanani said he has kept most of the existing staff and is making targeted upgrades, including improvements to the lighting system. Taco Kat remains open with regular service hours posted online, including late-night hours on weekends.
Taco Kat is located at 11 S. Court Avenue [GMap] in downtown Orlando.
