Portion of Orlando Urban Trail to close for four months

PHOTO VIA CITY OF ORLANDO FACEBOOK PAGE

The City of Orlando shared over the weekend that a portion of the Orlando Urban Trail running through Ivanhoe Village will be closed to users for the next four months, starting on January 12.

The section of trail, located behind the historic Ivanhoe Building, between Magnolia Avenue and Highland Avenue, is being closed as part of an ongoing upgrade for the adjacent Lift Station 2 property, as part of OUC’s work on updating the city’s wastewater system. The utility will be replacing 70-year-old pipes that lead to the station and includes work along Highand Avenue, from Orange Avenue to Weber Street.

Several trees along the trail have been marked for removal, including palms and oak trees that were planted when the trail was originally completed in 2022. The Orlando Urban Trail is a two-mile trail that connects downtown Orlando to Winter Park, with major sections following along the historic Dinky Line railroad route.

We’re assuming there will be detour signs, but nothing official has been shared at the time of this post.
