The 28th annual Central Florida Jewish Film Festival (Website) returns November 7 to 9 with five films, including a documentary about the Catskills resort Grossinger’s and a Holocaust-era stamp heist. Enzian presents the festival in partnership with Shalom Orlando (Website). Screenings are split among three venues: The Dome at Orlando Science Center, Enzian in Maitland, and Aloma Cinema Grill.
The festival opens Saturday, November 7, at 8 p.m. with “We Met at Grossinger’s” in The Dome at Orlando Science Center, in Loch Haven Park. The 2025 documentary from director Paula Eiselt runs 104 minutes and follows the Grossinger family and the famous Catskills resort, which its matriarch started and ran.
On Sunday, November 8, “Hola!…Ciao” screens at 1:45 p.m. at Enzian Theater in Maitland. The 86-minute Israeli family comedy is directed by Jorge Weller and is in Hebrew and Spanish with English subtitles. It follows Marcelo (played by Pablo Rosenberg), an Argentina-born Israeli musician and aspiring filmmaker who lives in a chaotic, crowded household with his wife, adult children, a grandchild, and a talkative mother-in-law. And then his sister sends two family members from Israel to stay with them, unannounced.
“The Stamp Thief” follows at 4:45 p.m. Sunday at Aloma Cinema Grill. The 103-minute documentary from director Dan Sturman is a U.S., Polish and German production about stolen Holocaust-era stamp collections. Heritage Florida Jewish News described it as the one film outside the festival’s family theme and said it plays more like a detective movie.
The festival closes Monday, November 9, at Enzian. “Once Upon My Mother,” from director Ken Scott, screens at 3:45 p.m. The 102-minute French and Canadian film is in French with English subtitles. “The Ring” follows at 6:30 p.m. The 122-minute Israeli and Hungarian film is directed by Adir Miller and Doron and Yoav Paz. Miller also stars, and the film is in Hebrew and Hungarian with English subtitles.
Individual tickets are $14. A Mensch Pass is $118 and includes admission to all five programs, first priority seating, and doors opening 30 minutes early. Enzian’s festival page says the Mensch Pass includes a tax-deductible donation. A Series Pass covers all five programs with second priority seating. Passes and tickets are available at Enzian.org or at the Enzian box office.
