A crowd of over 10,000 people was estimated to have flocked to Cocoa Beach on Christmas Eve this year for the annual Surfing Santas (Website) event.

The free, family-friendly event, held on the beach near Minutemen Causeway, drew hundreds of surfers dressed as Santa Claus and other holiday characters, with thousands more spectators lining the beach to watch the costumed surfers hit the waves. Surfing Santas has become a signature Space Coast tradition since launching in 2009, growing from a small group of surfers into a major seasonal spectacle.

Surfing Santas raises funds for local initiatives like the Florida Surf Museum and Grind for Life, a nonprofit that supports cancer patients.
