Universal Orlando just confirmed a new haunted house for this year’s upcoming Halloween Horror Nights (Website) based on the hit Terrifier franchise starring the horrific Art the Clown (pictured above).
The first feature, Terrifier (2016), was produced on an ultra‑low budget, reported between about $35,000–$55,000, and earned a modest gross, but its sequel, Terrifier 2 (2022) leveraged the word‑of‑mouth power of its die-hard fans to a multi‑million dollar box office. Terrifier 3 raked in $90 million worldwide on a roughly $2 million production budget.
The franchise is distinguished by extreme, graphic, largely practical gore effects (chainsaws, dismemberments, prolonged mutilation set pieces) delivered with an over-the-top blend of macabre slapstick and mean‑spirited brutality; coverage of Terrifier 2 and especially Terrifier 3 emphasized audience reports of fainting or vomiting.
The new haunted house will be themed as Art’s personal funhouse with classic scenes from the movies, including a Clown Cafe, a gross bathroom, and something special for the holidays.
Special limited-edition Terrifier merch is now available at the park and online, HERE.
This year’s Horror Nights will run on select nights between August 29 and November 2.
