Trader Joe’s is planning to open a new store in Maitland, adding another location to the grocery chain’s Central Florida footprint. The store is proposed for the Trelago Harbour, a mixed-use development near Maitland Boulevard and Lake Destiny Drive, with apartments, offices, and retail space.
Plans submitted to the city show a stand-alone Trader Joe’s with its own parking, on a 2.5-acre lot, serving as an anchor to a new part of the Trelago development. At the moment, plans call for 135 parking spaces. In comparison, the Winter Park Trader Joe’s has 150-ish shared parking spaces, which are used by nearby businesses like Shake Shack.
An opening timeline has not been announced, and the project is still in the early stages of moving through the local approval process, wth plans filed on November 4 by Kimley-Horn, with the St. Johns River Water Management District.
