The Afghan Whigs (Instagram | Website) will play The Beacham (Website) in downtown Orlando on Wednesday, November 4, at 7 p.m., touring behind their new album, “Soft Control,” which was just released on August 21.
According to their label, the album marks the band’s tenth studio release and captures frontman Greg Dulli in a more reflective place than the volatile persona that defined the band’s earlier work. Dulli said he worked hard on finding inner peace, and that while his younger anger fueled his art and ambition, he’s since found a quiet confidence that doesn’t require proving anything to anyone. “Soft Control” was recorded across four studios, in Joshua Tree, New Orleans, East Hollywood and Cincinnati, and includes contributions from former Afghan Whigs drummer Patrick Keeler, vocalist and violist Petra Haden, and My Morning Jacket’s Bo Koster, and more.
