Winter Park will host one of Central Florida’s longest-running holiday traditions this weekend with the 73rd Annual Ye Olde Hometown Christmas Parade. The event steps off at 9 a.m. on Saturday and follows the usual route along Park Avenue, beginning at Cole Avenue and heading south to Lyman Avenue. The parade is widely considered the oldest continuously operating Christmas parade in the region, drawing large crowds each year. So ride your bike or plan on walking at least a few blocks if you’re planning on attending.
More than 80 groups are expected to participate this year, including school marching bands, civic organizations, scouting troops, and local first responders. As always, Santa Claus will close the parade.
The following roads will close at 6 a.m. Saturday, December 6:
- Park Avenue: between Webster and West Canton avenues.
- New York Avenue: between Webster and West Canton avenues.
- Lyman Avenue: between Park and Interlachen avenues.
- Side streets at the Park Avenue intersections along the parade route.
