Sanford Main Street (Website) is hosting a special fundraiser event to support the return of Sanford Porchfest (Instagram | Website) in 2027. The event is scheduled to take place Saturday, February 28, from noon to 7 p.m. in downtown Sanford, featuring more than 50 musical acts performing at 19 different venues, in a sort of indoor version of the annual community festival.
“Because Sanford Porchfest was canceled for 2026, we’re raising money for our friends at Porchfest so they come back even stronger in 2027,” Sanford Main Street announced on social media.
Unlike the traditional Porchfest format, where musicians perform on neighborhood front porches, Sanford’s Porchfest will feature performances at downtown Sanford businesses. The businesses hosting musicians are making donations to Sanford Porchfest, and include Ace Cafe, The Alley, Brewlando, Buster’s Bistro, Celery City Craft, Community Brewhouse, Dees Bros, Deviant Wolfe, The Sullivan, Tuffy’s West End Trading Co., The Yardery, and more.
The event is free, though organizers are asking attendees to support the participating businesses.
Sanford Porchfest announced in October that it would pause its 2026 festival after delays in planning and a need to “ensure long-term sustainability.” The festival, which has become a signature event for the city since its founding, typically attracts more than 50,000 people to historic downtown Sanford each year. Proceeds from the festival fund arts scholarships and programs for local students, with an estimated $280,000 donated in the past few years.
Sanford Porchfest plans to return in February 2027 to mark the tenth anniversary of its first event.
