Annual belly flop contest returns to Baldwin Park, September 14

PHOTO VIA CHOLO DOGS FACEBOOK PAGE

Franco’s Flop Fest (Website) is returning to Baldwin Park this fall, and they’re promising it’ll be bigger and better than ever.

The belly flop competition/street party is slated for Sunday, September 14, and will take over New Broad Street in front of Tactical Brewing (Website) in Baldwin Park, with road closures in place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The annual event is hosted by Cholo Dogs (Website), and this year will be sponsored by Florida Citrus Sports. So they’ll be getting a bigger pool.

The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. and feature local food trucks, a makers’ market, live music, and, of course, Tactical Brewing’s signature ales on tap both inside and outside at pop-up bars. Flop hopefuls must register HERE for $35 and submit a signed waiver by 1 p.m. on event day. Costumes encouraged (though remember that white gets see-through when wet).

Past Flop Fests have drawn hundreds of people to Baldwin Park with winners crowned “Earth’s Premier Belly-Flopper” after being judged on creativity, splash, sound, impact, and showmanship by a panel of beautiful and accomplished judges (like myself).
