The Castle Irish Pub (Website) in College Park is hosting its first Taste of Ireland event, an Irish food and music celebration set for Thursday, September 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The event, billed as a “Halfway to Paddy’s Day” party, is held at the pub’s location at 2625 Edgewater Drive [GMap]. Tickets are $65 and include tasting station access, complimentary beer, wine, whiskey, and cocktail samples, live traditional and contemporary Irish music, and Irish dance performances.
Owner Shane Hoyne said the pub team wanted to showcase a wider range of Irish cuisine than what typically appears on the regular menu. He said the idea grew out of a recent trip home to Ireland, and that guests can expect creative dishes representing different regions of the country, from Dublin to Dingle to Belfast to Cork.
“There’s so much to love about Irish cuisine that we can’t always feature on our menu every day,” Hoyne said. “And after our most recent trip back home, we wanted a night where we could bring a broader range of fare to the community. You can expect some creative dishes.”
The tasting menu includes seared sea scallops, Prince Edward Island mussels, baked monkfish, smoked salmon boxty (potato pancake), bangers and mash, stout braised lamb, chicken vol-au-vent, Irish prawns, fresh shucked oysters, duck liver pâté scotch egg, an Irish cheese board, and apple crumble.
The event is one night only, and tickets and more information are available HERE.
