Touring troubadour Jimmy Robinson (Website) of New Orleans will perform at the Timucua Arts Foundation (Website) as part of its annual International Guitar Festival on Sunday, August 23.

Robinson has recorded and toured for more than 40 years, earning praise for his pretty remarkable solo acoustic guitar skills (check out the video below to see/hear for yourself). He learned guitar in garage bands before studying classical guitar and composition at Loyola University New Orleans and the Eastman School of Music in New York, later marrying those influences with his electric background to develop his current solo style. He has released three solo albums: “Vibrating Strings,” “Guitarworks,” and “Three.”

In 1975, Robinson founded the instrumental rock fusion band Woodenhead, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026 with a performance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, new material, a retrospective release, and a remastered reissue of the band’s full catalog. He also founded the New Orleans Guitar Collective Twangorama and later the New Orleans Guitar Masters.

Robinson has performed at guitar festivals around the world, including the Acoustic Franciacorta (see video below) and Madame International Guitar Festivals in Italy, the Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival in Mexico, and more than 25 years at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He has also appeared as a support act for artists including Jeff Beck, John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, Stevie Ray Vaughan and the Neville Brothers.
