A new dessert shop focused on Korean-style mochi doughnuts is planning to open in downtown Orlando in mid-January, according to Laura Harrington at Business Debut.

The chain, Mochiry (Website), is expected to open at 20 S. Orange Avenue [GMap], in the former home of Downtown Pourhouse. Franchise owner Muhammad Jalil told the outlet the concept is designed as a simple, fast counter-service spot aimed at downtown workers, students, and customers ordering takeout or delivery.

Mochi doughnuts are known for their chewy texture, typically made with glutinous rice flour or similar starches, and often sold in “bubble ring” shapes with interesting glazes and toppings. The corporate menu also includes teas, coffees, and Korean hot dog options.

Downtown Pourhouse closed in March 2025.
