Florida’s license-free freshwater fishing weekend is April 4 and 5, giving residents and visitors a chance to fish without a license. All other rules, including seasons, bag limits, and size limits, still apply though, so don’t go crazy.
The FWC is hosting two free family fishing events this Saturday to celebrate:
- Tenoroc Fish Management Area at 3829 Tenoroc Mine Road, Lakeland, on April 4, from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Pre-registration required by Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m. You can call 863-648-3200 to sign up. Youth 15 and under receive free bait and loaner rods. The vent includes a casting contest, outdoor activities, and a free lunch from Publix. A parent or guardian must accompany any children.
- Florida Bass Conservation Center at 3583 County Road 788, Webster, on April 4, from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Bring your own gear and bait. Free lunch provided.
For fishing spots, boat ramps, and piers near you, you can visit MyFWC.com. Anglers can also submit catches to FWC’s TrophyCatch and Big Catch programs for prizes and shout-outs. The next license-free freshwater fishing weekend is June 13 and 14.
