The City of Orlando is hiring a full-time Marketing and Communications Manager for its Downtown Development Board (Website) and Community Redevelopment Agency.
The manager develops and carries out marketing, paid media, and communications plans to support DDB and CRA priorities. The job includes strengthening downtown Orlando’s brand and public image, promoting downtown events and explaining the impact of DDB and CRA programs to residents, businesses, visitors and elected officials. The role works with city departments, community partners, business owners, and developers (and answers a million questions from outlets like Orlando Shine).
The posting lists a salary range of $37.42 to $47.71. The city says it offers a competitive benefits package.
Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, mass communications, or a related field. They also need three years of professional experience in event marketing, event promotions, planning management, multimedia, interactive programs, or graphic design, including one year in a supervisory role with budget responsibility. A Florida driver’s license is required. The city accepts four years of direct experience in place of a bachelor’s degree.
The city prefers candidates with five years of marketing experience, including three in destination, tourism, hospitality, or event marketing. It also prefers experience with integrated campaigns, email platforms such as MailChimp, project management tools such as Airtable or Wrike, FEMA certifications, and creating accessible digital content that meets ADA and WCAG standards.
