The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens (Website) in Winter Park will celebrate Czech Heritage Day on Sunday, September 13, from 1 to 4 p.m., with free admission. The event marks the anniversary of sculptor Albin Polasek’s immigration to America on September 12, 1901, and celebrates the Czech cultural heritage that shaped his life and work.
The Bach Festival Society will perform traditional Moravian and Czech music at 1:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Family activities throughout the afternoon include pysanky egg coloring, traditional Modrotisk stamped artwork, a scavenger hunt for sculptures inspired by Czech folklore, and story time featuring tales from Czech folklore and Polasek’s own childhood in his homeland. Docent-led tours of Polasek’s historic home will also be offered, highlighting how his Czech roots influenced his career.
