Franco’s Flop Fest returns to Baldwin Park Sept. 20

PHOTO VIA FRANCO'S FLOP FEST

Franco’s Flop Fest (Instagram | Website), billed as “Earth’s premier belly flop contest,” is set to return to Baldwin Park on Saturday, September 20, for its fifth edition, and organizers are now accepting applications from anyone brave enough to compete. Just bring some soothing ointment for that tummy afterwards.

The event takes over New Broad Street in front of Tactical Brewing (Website), with a vendor market opening at noon and the belly flop contest kicking off at 1:30 p.m. The event wraps at 3 p.m. but people tend to linger and enjoy the vibe.

Contestants (most wearing costumes) will put on a show in front of thousands of fans, with judges (like myself) scoring flops on creativity, splash, sound, impact and showmanship. The fest will feature a curated lineup of Orlando food trucks, beer and non-alcoholic drinks from Tactical Brewing, a curated vendor market and a DJ-driven playlist.

Anyone looking to compete can register and pay through the event’s official site, then read the contest rules and sign a waiver before flopping day. Parking is available on the street and in nearby garages.

Orlando Shine is a proud media sponsor of this year’s Franco’s Flop Fest, and the title sponsor is none other than Florida Citrus Sports.
