The Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras (Website) is kicking off its 70th anniversary Platinum Season with a five-day New York City tour in June, sending 70 young musicians to perform at some of the most celebrated venues in American music.
On June 21, the Tour Orchestra will take the stage at Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium for the third time, performing works by Shostakovich, Sibelius, Berlioz, and Rachmaninoff. The same day, the Tour Jazz Band makes its New York debut with an 11 a.m. performance at The Jazz Gallery. Leading up to the performance, the Jazz Band musicians will work with clinicians from Jazz at Lincoln Center and play an evening jam session at Dizzy’s Club.
Before they leave, FSYO invites the public to a free Send Off Concert on June 16 at 7 p.m. at Valencia College East Campus, featuring the full programs to be performed in New York.
“I found it fitting to kick off our Platinum Season in one of the most renowned concert halls in the country, Carnegie Hall, to commemorate our 70 years of musical excellence,” said Executive Director Abigail Tran, who added that a Spring 2027 performance at Orlando’s Steinmetz Hall will close out the anniversary season.
FSYO serves more than 300 students across eight ensembles and has previously toured Japan, Italy, China, and Chicago. The June 16 Send Off Concert is free and open to the public.
