In early January, the board of directors of The Pride Chamber (Website) appointed David Mink as the LGBTQ+ organization’s new executive director. Mink replaces Gina Duncan, who abruptly resigned in November.
“On behalf of the board of directors, we are proud to appoint David Mink as executive director,” said Pride Chamber board chair Tony Dandato in a leadership update email to members sent January 26. “His proven nonprofit leadership, broad community network, and unwavering dedication to our mission make him exceptionally well-suited for this role, and we are confident in his ability to lead the Pride Chamber forward.”
Mink (LinkedIn) brings experience in community engagement and business development to The Pride Chamber after over 20 years in non-profit arts groups in Washington, DC, and locally, including Orlando Shakespeare Theater and Disney Parks & Resorts.
The Pride Chamber began in 2004 as the Metropolitan Business Association. The organization “serves as a resource for small businesses and large corporations, as well as LGBTQ+ and ally-owned businesses, community members, and government leaders,” according to its website. In 2017, the Chamber was recognized as National Affiliate Chamber of the Year by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
In his new role, Mink will oversee the Chamber’s strategic direction, member services, and advocacy efforts, while working closely with the Board of Directors and community stakeholders. Priorities will include growing the Chamber’s membership, launching new programs to support LGBTQ+ business owners, and organizing events that celebrate and promote economic diversity.
“It is an honor to join The Pride Chamber and serve such a vibrant and resilient community,” said Mink in the announcement email. “I look forward to continuing the great work that the Chamber has already accomplished on the mission of equality through economics for the LGBTQ+ and allied businesses of Central Florida.”
