A Colombian craft brewery with more than a decade of international accolades has landed in Seminole County.
Bruder Latin Restaurant and Brewery (Instagram | Website) has opened its first U.S. location inside Oviedo Mall, taking over the former Oviedo Brewing Co. space following a roughly $1.5 million buildout. The brewpub is now producing beer on-site and serving a menu of Latin American plates and cocktails.
Founded in 2009 in Tunja, Colombia, Bruder holds more than 14 international awards, including a gold medal at the World Beer Awards 2022 for its Maracuya ale, a passion fruit-forward beer. The brand blends German brewing techniques with tropical and exotic ingredients to produce small-batch beers and was founded by brothers Julian and Hector Martinez from Boyaca. The company operates 10 locations in Colombia.
The Oviedo location measures in at 8,789 SF and held a soft opening May 11, followed by a grand opening May 16.
Mall management noted the brewery could have gone to Miami but chose Oviedo instead. The arrival fits into a wider effort to replace short-term retail on property with experience-focused tenants. The food court is also being rebranded as the “Oviedo Eatery,” with beer and wine service planned to encourage longer visits.
