“RedRum: The Unauthorized Parody Musical of the Shining” runs October 22 through November 1 at Dr. Phillips Center’s Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater (the one with the pretty stained glass ceiling) in downtown Orlando.
The musical spoof reimagines Stephen King’s horror classic, following aspiring writer Jack Torrance as he takes a winter caretaking job at the isolated Overlook Hotel, only for ghost-fueled cabin fever to spiral into chaos complete with psychic visions, haunted hallways with weird twins, and people in dog masks doing sexy things in the hotel rooms.
Performances run Thursday through Sunday over two weekends, with evening shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. The run includes a Halloween night performance on October 31. Total run time is one hour and 55 minutes, plus a 15-minute intermission, and the show carries an age restriction of 16 and up.
