Fresh off courtroom win, Afroman plays The Vanguard in Orlando

Afroman (Instagram | Website), the rapper behind the 2000s hit “Because I Got High,” will perform at The Vanguard (Website) in downtown Orlando on Friday, October 30. Cypress Spring and Red Savage and the Wonder Years will open the show. Doors and showtime are 7 p.m.

The Orlando stop comes in a breakout year for the veteran rapper. In March, Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, defeated a defamation suit filed by Ohio deputies over viral music videos that used footage of a 2022 raid on his home to mock them.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies had sued over the videos “Lemon Pound Cake” and “Will You Help Me Repair My Door.” The jury found that Afroman did not defame the deputies or portray them in a false light.

Afroman broke out in the Napster era, when “Because I Got High” went platinum and its follow-up, “Crazy Rap,” went triple platinum.
