The Orange County Library System will hold the grand opening of its new Horizon West Branch on Saturday, October 10, at 10 a.m., opening a brand-spanking-new full-service library to one of Central Florida’s fastest-growing communities. Horizon West is a rapidly developing area in western Orange County that has seen significant residential growth in recent years.
The roughly 20,000 SF library sits on an 11-acre campus that will also include outdoor spaces and an outdoor performance area, according to the Orange County Library System. The building now holds a collection of about 45,000 books and features a children’s area with a bee-themed design, multiple meeting rooms, and an outdoor learning garden with a StoryWalk pathway.
The project broke ground in November 2024, with construction reaching its first concrete pour in February 2025 and first wall construction that April. Books arrived, and shelving was completed in September 2026 ahead of next month’s opening. The $27.275 million project was built by H.J. High Construction Company and designed by Borrelli + Partners.
The library system says details on programs, classes, and meeting room availability will be released as they become finalized.
The branch is located at 4657 Hamlin Groves Trail [GMap] in Winter Garden, near the entrance to Horizon West Regional Park.
