The Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce (Website) is bringing back its Ice Cream Stroll & Pup Walk on Sunday, October 11, and is expanding ot to 27 stops across historic downtown Mount Dora after a sold-out spring event.
The event, presented by VyStar Credit Union, runs from 2 to 4 p.m. and invites attendees and their dogs on a self-guided tasting tour through downtown shops, restaurants, and businesses, according to the official press release.
Scoops on 5th (Website and Waffles and Cream (Instagram) will headline the ice cream lineup, with Mystic Ice Cream offering seasonal flavors like a Maple Bacon Bourbon option and some dairy-free choices. Earl’s Bakehouse (Instagram) and Piglet’s Pantry Dog Bakery (Website) will be giving out special treats for good boys along the route. The event will also mark the Mount Dora debut of PopUp Play Company, a local mobile golf simulator business, which will be letting event-goers try its equipment during the stroll.
Chamber board member Amy Becker, who brought the concept to Mount Dora after seeing a similar event in DeLand, said the stroll has grown from a simple business promotion into a community tradition. Chamber communications director Spencer MacDonald said the format encourages visitors to step inside businesses they might otherwise pass by.
Attendees will need to check in at the Mount Dora Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, located at 341 Alexander Street [GMap], to receive a Strolling Card before visiting stops in any order they choose. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12, and advance purchase is encouraged since the last one sold out fairly quickly.
