The Falcon Bar & Gallery (Website) is celebrating its 15th anniversary on Saturday, October 3, at 8 p.m., with “Forever & Ever & Ever,” a group art exhibition inspired by “The Shining” and curated by Heidi Kneisl.
The theme carries special meaning for the Thornton Park art bar, since “The Shining” inspired one of The Falcon’s earliest art shows. The anniversary also revives a bit of neighborhood lore tied to Mother Falcon, The Falcon’s former sister business next door, the short-lived “Red Rum,” which once featured a secret Shining-themed room hidden behind a connecting door in the back of the space.
The group art show will bring together a diverse lineup of local artists offering their own interpretations of the cult classic film. The evening also includes music from DJ SPANK, food available from neighboring restaurant The Classic, drinks, and additional anniversary festivities throughout the night.
The Falcon owner Melissa Schumann said the venue has spent 15 years as a place where art, music, nightlife and community overlap, and that the show is a chance to return to one of its earliest exhibitions while celebrating the artists, regulars, neighbors and friends who have kept The Falcon going. “Forever & Ever & Ever” will remain on view in The Falcon’s gallery space for one month following the October 3 opening.
