Some concepts feel so obvious in hindsight that it becomes surprising nobody thought of them sooner. Once Upon A Traitor: Faithfully Ever After (Website) takes the social deception chaos of The Traitors and swaps reality television personalities for a cast of Disney heroes and villains competing for perhaps the most Orlando prize imaginable: Walt Disney World pressed pennies.
With a completely sold-out run and an audience that arrived ready to play along, the energy in Green Venue felt electric before the show even began. Contestants compete in challenges, build alliances, accuse one another of betrayal, and attempt to survive banishment, all under the watchful eye of the Magic Mirror, who appears to have inherited Alan Cumming’s role through what I can only describe as a particularly glamorous curse.
Alexander Mrazek’s Magic Mirror becomes the anchor that keeps the whole production moving with theatrical flair, a delightfully dramatic Scottish accent, and impeccable control of the room. The cast as a whole commits fully to their character interpretations and understands exactly how much Disney energy to bring without losing sight of the parody.
What makes the show especially fun is how many small details reward attention. Familiar game mechanics are reimagined through a Disney lens, references range from broad pop culture to very specific Orlando jokes, and recurring bits evolve in satisfying ways throughout the hour. There are plenty of moments where the audience reaction becomes part of the entertainment itself — cheers, gasps, and audible disappointment as favorites rise and fall.
Even if you’ve never seen The Traitors and wouldn’t classify yourself as a Disney adult, the production is clever enough and playful enough to carry you along. The sold-out run makes sense. Once Upon A Traitor understands that parody works best when it loves what it’s making fun of, and this show clearly does. Mirror, mirror on the wall… will it be the Faithful or Traitors who fall?
