Watermelon 5K returns this Saturday in Winter Park

The AdventHealth July 4th Watermelon 5K returns to Park Avenue in Winter Park on Saturday, July 4, with a 7:30 a.m. start.

The USATF-certified 3.1-mile course begins on Park Avenue and runs through the surrounding streets of Winter Park and includes a free kids’ run that follows at 8:45 a.m. Every finisher receives a t-shirt and a medal.

Post-race highlights include a watermelon-eating contest at 8:40 a.m., yard games at the AdventHealth tents, and an ice-cold watermelon at the finish. The 2025 Florida Watermelon Queen, Reagan Hudson of Chiefland, Florida, will also be on hand.

Registration is $45 through July 3 and $50 on race day. Runners 17 and under and 65 and over receive $10 off. Bib pickup runs Monday, June 30, through Friday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Track Shack (Website), 1104 N. Mills Avenue [GMap] in Mills 50. Race-day pickup begins at 6 a.m. at the course. Proceeds benefit the Track Shack Youth Foundation. The race is also collecting non-perishable food items for the Orlando VA Medical Center’s VSO Food Pantry, with a goal of 1,000 items.
