American Thrift (Website), a secondhand chain that has operated in South Florida since 1997, opened a new Orlando location Saturday, August 8.

The store is located at 2000 Principal Row [GMap] and offers 30,000 SF of shopping space, according to Orlando Weekly, which first reported the opening.

American Thrift accepts nearly everything donated except food, including clothing, furniture, accessories, toys, household goods and wigs. The chain was established in 1996 and has operated in South Florida since December 1997, with locations in cities including Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale and Lake Worth.

The Orlando store will follow the same pricing structure as other locations, including a weekly “happy hour” with most items 50 percent off on Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. American Thrift locations direct proceeds from donations toward breast cancer research and awareness, including support for the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation.
