Pulse sign removal begins March 10, building demolition set for March 18

UPDATE 3/10: We have been made aware by the construction crew that the Pulse sign removal process will begin promptly at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, March 11, 2026).

The City of Orlando has released a timeline for two major construction milestones at the Pulse Memorial site, beginning this week.

Construction crews will begin removing the Pulse sign on Tuesday, March 10, starting around 7 a.m. The initial phase involves carefully removing the white paneling and stabilizing the structure. The top portion of the sign containing the logo is expected to be lifted and preserved on Wednesday, March 11. The entire removal process is expected to take roughly three days.

The Pulse building itself is scheduled for removal beginning Wednesday, March 18. Crews will arrive around 7 a.m. to begin watering the structure to reduce airborne dust and address any other hazard abatement. Controlled dismantling of the exterior is set to begin around 9 a.m. and is estimated to wrap around noon. The full site clearing process, which includes the Pulse building, an adjacent building, and other structures within the fence, is expected to take several weeks.

The city noted that items, or “artifacts,” from inside the building have already been removed and are being preserved in a secure, climate-controlled environment.
