Plantees closing Mills 50 location this weekend

Plantees is closing its Mills Avenue location this weekend, after a roughly four-year run in the neighborhood.

The plant-based fast food restaurant was launched by Team Market Group (Website), the hospitality group behind Alfie’s, June, Mathers, Nuri’s Tavern, The Robinson, and The Wellborn. It opened in the Mills 50 space next to Will’s Pub and Lil Indie’s in 2022.

Orlando Shine spoke with TMG co-owner Daniel Mawardi about the closure. “We sold the brand to a customer who loved the product, and he lives in Arizona,” Mawardi said. He added that TMG hasn’t decided what will happen with the building next.

Plantees served fast-food-style vegan items, including Impossible burgers, “chick’n” nuggets and french fries.

The closure comes as TMG has scaled back its footprint in the area. Orlando Business Journal reported in February that the company had listed at least five of its downtown properties for sale. Former TMG spot Taco Kat was sold to new owners earlier this year.
