Papa Llama, Orlando’s Michelin-starred Peruvian gem, closes doors

Papa Llama (Instagram), the Peruvian restaurant that earned two Michelin Stars, has closed after nearly a decade in Orlando.

The restaurant, located at 2840 Curry Ford Road [GMap], opened in 2019 under chefs Kevin and Maria Ruiz, after first launching as a pop-up tenant at East End Market. Once in its own brick-and-mortar storefront, it became known for live-fire cooking and a tasting menu built around Peruvian staples with contemporary touches.

Papa Llama earned a Michelin Star in 2024 and again in 2025, before losing the distinction earlier this year and being downgraded to the guide’s Recommended list.

The restaurant has not made a formal public announcement about the closure, but its website is no longer functional, and Orlando Weekly recently shared the news on September 4.
