Parker Jochum of The Edison at Disney Springs (Website) is headed to New York City for the national finals of the J. Rieger Road to Jerez cocktail competition (which is definitely a thing because we got a press release about it) after winning the Orlando regional with her cocktail “Heartland Solera.”
The competition, hosted by J. Rieger & Co., a Kansas City-based distillery, celebrates the historic connection between sherry and American whiskey (so crazy). Bartenders across the country competed using Rieger Kansas City Whiskey, a spirit finished with Oloroso sherry, and the Orlando regional was held at The Wilson Orlando at The Well, featuring bartenders from across the Southeast.
Five regional winners will advance to the June 8 final in New York City at Vintage Green Rooftop during Bar Convent week, where each will present their cocktail. The winner receives a trip to Jerez, Spain, alongside the J. Rieger & Co. team.
“We’re in awe of the level of excellence on display from every contestant,” said Ryan Maybee, Co-Founder of J. Rieger & Co. “At Rieger, we celebrate the independence, creativity, and hospitality that define the American bartending spirit. With The Road to Jerez, our goal was to give back to the community—offering a chance to compete for a trip to Jerez, Spain, alongside our team.”
The other regional winners are Zachary Snyder from Hooch Aspen in Colorado, Delsin Richardson from Dutch Courage & Traveling Libations in Baltimore, AJ Barbosa from Bisous Chicago, and Aleka K. Ross from Kona’s Street Market in San Francisco.
Jochum’s win adds to Orlando’s growing reputation in the national craft cocktail scene. The Edison at Disney Springs has become known for its elevated cocktail program, and Jochum’s recognition on a national stage reinforces Orlando’s position as a serious contender in the food and beverage industry beyond its theme park reputation.
