The Oakland Farmers Market (Website) returns Thursday, August 13 to historic downtown Oakland after its annual summer break.

The first market of the season will feature a complimentary FIT4MOM West Orange Mom Walk at 9:30 a.m., followed by story time under the oak trees with local children’s author Tabitha Ebre at 10:30 a.m.

The market is held at the Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center along the West Orange Trail, offering shoppers fresh, locally grown produce and a chance to support local small-town businesses, including produce from Oxford Family Farms.

Omairis, owner of Polished by Omairis, said the market has become a fixture for her business, saying, “As an Oakland small business owner, my clients and I always look forward to farmers market Thursdays,” Omairis said in the release. “We stop by before, in between, and sometimes even during appointments to grab a pick-me-up and shop small. I love that our salon is right across from the market because it brings people into downtown and helps our whole community feel connected.”

The Oakland Farmers Market runs on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center, 126 W. Petris Avenue [GMap] in Oakland. The market will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during August before returning to its regular 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. hours starting in September. Admission and parking are free.
