New youth theater studio coming to Thornton Park this spring

IMAGE VIA PAPERMAP THEATER AND CO

PaperMap Theater & Co. (Website) is opening a new rehearsal-centered youth theater studio in Thornton Park, converting a former retail space at 2 N. Summerlin Avenue [GMap] into a small black box rehearsal room and showcase venue for young performers ages 10 to 17. The company says it has signed a lease and expects students to begin using the space as soon as mid-February 2026, with only minor upgrades planned.

PaperMap’s model is built around full production cycles. Each show will form a dedicated “PaperMap Cast” that rehearses together in person over several weeks, then presents a run of fully staged performances in the same studio. Cast sizes are intentionally limited, and participants are expected to learn both performance and behind-the-scenes work, including lighting, sound, props, costumes, and scenic storytelling.

The studio is designed as an intimate black box space, with performers and audiences in the same room and technical elements visible. PaperMap’s first season includes four productions: Pride & Prejudice (spring 2026), PUFFS (or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic), She Kills Monsters, and The Outsiders.
