RENDERING VIA WALT DISNEY WORLD
Disney has officially announced that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 26, and we got an early listen to the soundtrack before it drops.
The ride replaces the Aerosmith version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with The Electric Mayhem, The Muppets’ house band, taking over as the headliners. The concept is still the same high-speed indoor coaster, but with a distinctly Muppet theme and soundtrack. The pre-show line area features “Can You Picture That?” as The Electric Mayhem rehearses, before riders launch into one of five possible songs: “Song 2,” “Born to Be Wild” featuring Camilla the Chicken, “Love Rollercoaster” featuring Jennifer Hudson and Questlove, “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” featuring Def Leppard, or “Walking on Sunshine” featuring Kelly Clarkson. Each ride is a different song, encouraging riders to go more than once.
According to the official Disney Blog, linked above, the queue features the first-ever Audio-Animatronic of Scooter (Kermit’s overworked stage manager friend), who appears in the recording studio trying to get the band to wrap up and get to the show. Celebrity cameos woven through the experience include Awkwafina (the voice of my Meta Raybans), Danny Trejo, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Travis Barker, Wayne Brady, and “Weird Al” Yankovic, among others.
