After 25 years serving up Cuban comfort food near Ivanhoe Village, Cindy’s Café (Website) has permanently closed its downtown Orlando location. Through the years, the family-owned eatery at 2512 N. Orange Avenue [GMap] had earned a loyal following for its classic Cuban sandwiches, café con leche, and friendly staff.
Owner-operators announced the closure in a brief message posted to the café’s website and social channels, thanking patrons for the community’s support and noting the end of an era. Read the full statement below, which includes news that one of the owners was currently dealing with some health issues and that the building was slated to be demolished by Advent Health in the near future.
Cindy’s Café had become a fixture of the neighborhood, especially appreciated by nearby hospital staff, local residents, and brunch goers seeking authentic Cuban food in a modest setting. Reviews consistently praised its warm service and home-style cooking, with many citing the Cuban sandwich as among the best in the city.
The closure raises questions about the future of the 0.28-acre site in the Ivanhoe Village/Orlando Medical District vicinity, and we’ve reached out to AdventHealth about what their plans are for the property. We had not heard back at the time of this post.
