Leadership Seminole (Website) will host its annual Call to Service event on Friday, October 9, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at The Rink at Northland Church, located at 522 Dog Track Road [GMap] in Longwood.

The free, public event is billed as Seminole County’s largest nonprofit volunteer expo, bringing together 40 local nonprofit organizations for attendees to explore volunteer, mentoring, advocacy, committee, and board service opportunities, according to the official press release. So it’s one of the best ways to plug into your community if you’re new to the area or just looking to be more involved.

More than 300 Leadership Seminole alumni, nonprofit professionals and other community members are expected to attend. Complimentary coffee and a light breakfast will also be provided.

“One of the greatest strengths of our community is the willingness of people to step forward and serve,” said Dawn Kraus, executive director of Leadership Seminole, according to the official press release. Kraus said the event creates a space for attendees to meet nonprofit leaders, build connections, and find ways to use their skills to help the community.

Leadership Seminole is a program of the Seminole County Chamber that has spent more than three decades developing civic leaders in Seminole County, which sits just north of Orlando.

Advance registration is encouraged and open through October 9. Find registration details and the full list of participating nonprofits HERE.
