Journalist who exposed Jeffrey Epstein headlines First Amendment Foundation event in Winter Park

The First Amendment Foundation (Website) is bringing Julie K. Brown (Substack), the investigative journalist whose reporting reignited the Jeffrey Epstein case, to Winter Park for a live conversation on October 7.

Orlando Sentinel columnist Scott Maxwell will join Brown for a discussion covering how her investigation unfolded, the obstacles she faced pursuing the story, what the Epstein files revealed, and why questions of power, accountability and transparency tied to the case remain relevant today.

Brown, a Miami Herald reporter, received a 2026 Pulitzer Prize Special Citation for her reporting exposing Jeffrey Epstein’s systematic abuse of young women, the justice system that protected him, and the network of associates and enablers who allowed the abuse to continue. Her investigation, Perversion of Justice, uncovered how Epstein received extraordinary protection from prosecutors despite years of allegations and evidence from victims, giving voice to survivors and helping renew public scrutiny of a case many believed had been closed.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Winter Park Events Center, 1050 W. Morse Boulevard [GMap]. Tickets are $75, with a 15% discount available for League of Women Voters members.
