Full Sail University (Facebook | Website) has eliminated 180 positions across its Winter Park campus as part of what officials are calling an “organizational realignment.”
The cuts affect academic, administrative, and operational roles at the school, according to a statement from Full Sail. University officials said changes in workflows, enrollment patterns and technology have shifted where the school needs to focus its resources and which roles are needed going forward.
Full Sail said no degree programs are being eliminated as part of the realignment, and the school said the changes are meant to maintain continuity for current students and graduates. Employees affected by the cuts are receiving support from the university’s human resources department, according to the school.
The reduction marks the second consecutive year of layoffs at Full Sail. The school cut 120 faculty and staff positions in 2025, which it described at the time as necessary for long-term sustainability.
Despite the staff reductions, the university’s campus expansion has continued. According to prior Orlando Business Journal reporting, Full Sail is building a Dream Lofts dorm project along University Boulevard that would add 570 beds for students, with the project expected to open in 2028 and potential future phases beyond that.
Full Sail University is a private, for-profit college that offers programs tied to the entertainment and media industry, including creative writing, film production, and game development. The school has not disclosed which specific positions were eliminated or exactly when the cuts took effect.
