Chester’s Chicken (Website), a national fried chicken brand with over 1,200 locations, appears to be planning its first Central Florida outpost in the former Citgo station at 3460 Edgewater Drive [GMap] in College Park. Or at least, there’s a banner hanging on the construction fencing in front of the building that has led multiple outlets to say it’s happening.
Chester’s operates primarily through a store-in-store model designed for gas stations, travel centers, and convenience stores. The brand traces its roots to 1952, when founder W.O. Giles began frying donuts and eventually chicken in Montgomery, Alabama (according to their website anyway).
The menu centers on fried chicken tenders, bone-in chicken, sandwiches, chicken bites, livers and gizzards, potato wedges, biscuits, and homestyle sides.
No opening date has been announced, and the Edgewater Drive location is not yet listed on Chester’s website. We reached out to corporate but had not heard back at the time of this post.
