Florida Citrus Sports (Website) hosted a cocktail contest last night at Lamp and Shade Craft Kitchen in Mills 50 to choose this year’s signature cocktail for the upcoming Cheez-It Citrus Bowl at Camping World Stadium, and I was there to help choose the winner alongside fellow judges Katie Shook (Instagram) and Alex Walker (Instagram).
Competing bartenders were asked to create a unique cocktail using either Cheez-Its or citrus, as well as either Don Q Rum or Tito’s Vodka. The winner walks away with $500 and the cocktail being sold during the bowl game.
The winning cocktail was the “I’m Feeling the Cheeziest, Coach,” by Parker Jochum (Instagram), a cheesy take on a piña colada, made with a custom Cheez-It-infused simple syrup and a Cheez-It rim. Which had no business tasting as good as it did.
Check out our video from behind-the-scenes below and the photos by the amazing Hunter Wade Carcases-Eberlein (Instagram).
The Cheez-It Citrus Bowl is set for 3 p.m. New Year’s Eve at Camping World Stadium and will feature a match between Michigan and Texas. Tickets are available for purchase HERE, or you can watch at home on ABC.
