Call for Artists: Art for the new Orange County Animal Services building

BIG TRASH ANIMAL MURAL BY BORDALO II VIA BORDALOII.COM

Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs is seeking artists to create a new public art installation for the Orange County Animal Services (Website) facility in Orlando. The opportunity is open to professional artists and artist teams, with applications due by January 13, 2026.

The selected artist will receive a commission of $145,500 to design and install artwork at the new animal services building on Conroy Road. The artwork is intended to enhance the facility’s public spaces and reflect its role as a welcoming place for people and animals. Artists working in a wide range of media are eligible to apply.

Suggested options include:

  • mural
  • mosaic
  • sculpture
  • kinetic sculpture
  • suspended 3D art
  • wayfinding artwork

After an initial review, a shortlist of artists will be invited to develop full proposals. Those finalists will receive a $1,500 stipend to create detailed concepts. A final selection is expected in spring 2026, with installation planned for early 2027.

The project is part of Orange County’s broader public art program, which aims to incorporate art into civic buildings and community spaces. The new animal services facility is designed to serve both the public and the animals in its care, and the artwork is expected to complement that mission.

Artists can apply through the Call for Entry system, and additional project details are available through Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs by clicking HERE.
