‘Big Trouble in Little China’ actor James Pax to appear at Enzian for film’s 40th anniversary

Enzian Theater (Website) is marking the 40th anniversary of Big Trouble in Little China with a special screening and in-person appearance by actor James Pax on Sunday, August 23, at 6 p.m.

John Carpenter’s 1986 cult classic stars Kurt Russell as truck driver Jack Burton, who follows his friend Wang Chi (Dennis Dun) into the underworld beneath San Francisco’s Chinatown and ends up battling the sorcerer Lo Pan (James Hong) and his elemental enforcers, the Three Storms, in a bid to rescue a kidnapped bride played by a cherubic Kim Cattrall. The film has plenty of martial arts action, supernatural fantasy and weird, slightly dated comedy, and though it was largely overlooked on its original release, it’d kinf og become one of the most beloved cult films of the 1980s.

Pax, who made history as the first Chinese American actor to star in Japanese films, played Lightning, one of the Three Storms, in the film. He’ll host an autograph signing and meet-and-greet from 4 to 6 p.m. before the screening, followed by a post-film Q&A.

Member discounts and table reservations are not available for this screening, and all ticket sales are final. Tickets start at $35 and are available HERE for purchase.
