A donation-based cooking demo is coming to Center Street in Altamonte Springs on May 2

CENTER STREET RETREAT, PICTURED

Center Street Retreat (Website), a retreat and community space at 400 Center Street [GMap] in Altamonte Springs, is hosting a “Soil to Soul” cooking demo on Saturday, May 2, from 3 to 5 p.m., led by Sacha Foxx (Instagram) and Jarid Altmark (Instagram), who you may recall from Season 2 of Netflix’s Is It Cake?.

The event is part of Center Street’s Open Door Series, which offers accessible workshops for anyone, regardless of financial circumstance. The demo covers practical, sustainability-minded cooking skills: how to shop for seasonal produce, how to support local farmers, and how to repurpose parts of your grocery haul you’d otherwise throw away. Attendees will also get simple ingredient hacks and recipes designed to add layers of flavor to everyday meals.

Admission is donation-based, starting at $5.55.

Center Street is also hosting a separate Soil to Soul dinner experience that same weekend on Sunday, May 3, hosted by Altmark and Foxx. The multi-course, scratch-made dinner will feature produce from local farms, presented in globally-inspired comfort dishes, using slow-cooked Florida farm-raised organic meats. Tickets are $175.

More information on both events is available HERE.
